The Blue Streak on Langsuan Lane

Bouncing out of work one evening, Narong had only one thing on his mind – getting home, kicking off those shoes, and plonking himself in front of his favorite drama series. But as he was marching down Langsuan, ready for the next dramatic twist in his show, life had its plot twist planned for him.

Out of the corner of his eye, an electrifying shade of blue jumped out, looking out of place amidst the usual hustle and bustle. Narong turned his head, and his jaw dropped a solid inch. Parked majestically, bathing in the golden hue of the setting sun, was an Audi RS5. It wasn’t just any car; it was THE car!

He looked around, half expecting a film crew to pop out, yelling, “Cut! Great shot!” But no, this was not a movie set, although Narong did feel a dramatic wind blowing through his hair. Or maybe that was just the wind.

Narong approached the Audi as if it was a rare artifact in a museum. Memories zipped through his mind. As a kid, he’d craft stories where he was a racecar driver, conquering every corner of the world in his faithful blue companion, always an Audi. His neighbors would often find little Narong, cardboard box car around his waist, colored in uneven blue strokes, going “vroom vroom” down the village pathways.

Gazing at this blue marvel now, adult Narong felt that childlike wonder bubble up. He whipped out his phone, struck a pose, took a selfie, then another, and maybe ten more. Each time, he made sure to have the most dramatic expressions. Pout, fierce look, surprised gaze, and even the classic ‘I-just-found-an-Audi’ look.

Just when he was getting really into it, a voice interrupted, “Fancy the car, eh?”

Narong, startled, almost dropped his phone. A laughing lady stood there, her shimmering dress matching the gleam of the car. “It’s mine,” she winked.

For a second, Narong thought of running, but then an idea struck. “Ever thought of making it famous?”

Before the lady could respond, he spun a wild idea of starting a ‘Cars of Langsuan’ social media page, with her Audi RS5 as the first star. They could have photoshoots, dramatic car stories, the works! They’d be famous!

She giggled, “You’re mad! But sure, why not?”

The rest of the evening saw Narong clicking photos from every possible angle, occasionally dragging bewildered passersby into the frame. His favorite was a snap where an old man seemed to be blessing the car while buying bananas from a street vendor.

Later, Narong decided to take the fun a notch higher. He bought a cheap, blue spray can and painted an old shoebox, reminiscent of his childhood ‘Audi’. Placing it next to the actual Audi, he captioned the photo, “Dream big, start small.”

By the time he finally reached home, Narong had forgotten about his drama series. Instead, he was busy uploading pictures and narrating the hilarious turn his evening had taken to his family. He laughed, recollecting his childhood stories and showed the shoebox Audi he once “drove.”

That night, lying in bed, Narong’s phone buzzed nonstop. His ‘Cars of Langsuan’ page was a hit! Comments flooded in, many laughing at the shoebox Audi and admiring the blue RS5. But one comment caught his eye, “When I was a kid, I dreamt of cars too. Tonight, you brought back those memories. Thank you.”

A warm smile spread across Narong’s face. The Audi, the fun, the laughter – it wasn’t just about the car. It was about dreams, memories, and the simple joy of connecting with your younger self.

He drifted to sleep, dreaming of blue cars, dramatic wind, and his next adventure on Langsuan Lane. The road home had never been this entertaining!
